When looking at the photos you may think that this guy never comes down from his mountain. Well unfortunately this is not true. I spend most of the time "down below", and I wish I could spend more time "up there". Invariably I spend most of my time thinking about my next trips. I envy people who write; “I’m so lucky having a job that I live doing”. I would love to shake of these shackles of civilized life, free myself from the bondage of modern consumerism. The working day is too long for such a short lifespan. We should be having fun, trying to live our lives to our fullest, in our own definitions for its meaning. We are too obsessed with trying to fit in the mould, conforming with the projected image that our governments and religious leaders have designed for us ; useful, hard working, docile, tax-paying, contributing, living and dying quietly, not shaking the tree. We all have basic instincts; to love, to hate, to give pleasure, to hurt, to kill, to give and to take away…we spend our time trying to suppress these feelings; to bury them. In the free world; we have become slaves of consumerism. The things that we own have ended up owning us.
